You can’t get any more builder-grade than this poor bathroom. Laminate countertops, Broadway-style vanity lighting, standard base-level cabinetry. The challenge? Don’t toss this brand-new countertop into the landfill, and add some personality to the space that will work for both the young girl who will inhabit the space, as well as adult guests visiting the homeowners.

Everything starts with this new backsplash, featuring light aqua blue iridescent tile extending from the existing countertop to the ceiling. Total drama! A new vanity light fixture from West Elm and a large, round mirror give the vanity a whole new persona.

Aqua paint on the wall gives this small bathroom a monochromatic feel, and a regal white and gray shower curtain are appropriate for any age. It’s the hot pink towels and accessories that give the space the POP it needs to make a kiddo happy.

Painting the vanity white and adding new cabinet hardware completes the spa experience.
