As you know, HGTV Design Star alum Jason Champion was hard at work this weekend decorating an entire Habitat for Humanity house out in Florida. He was kind enough to share pics and the results were amazing!
LIVING ROOM
I wondered where the TV would go in this living room and Jason explained that once the family has closed on the house and are able to move in, they’ll more than likely replace this mirror and console table with a TV and entertainment unit.
Included in this makeover were two upholstered pieces Jason completely redesigned with the help of Joy at The Upholstery Shoppe:
Talk about getting swept into the 21st century! This formerly-grandma sofa now looks like it was found at Room and Board.
DAD’S MASTER BEDROOM
PRINCESS BEDROOM
This bedroom will soon belong to two young girls who’ve been sharing a bunkbed with their older sister for the past five years. They’re looking forward to not having to share sleeping space, and Jason’s got to be thankful for the opportunity to redeem himself after this fiasco.
Still to come: Jason has plans to personalize the beds (inside the open ovals on the headboards) with the girls’ names. Rather than assigning beds, he wanted the girls to have the chance to decide which bed they wanted, so this was a detail that happened after the 24-hour installation was over and the design was revealed.
TWEEN BEDROOM
This daughter wanted a hippie space, so Jason gave her a modern version of tie-dye with Ikea fabrics and furnishings.
Fans of Design Star can applaud the existence of window treatments in every room! As Jason points out, you can pull off much more cohesive looks with a good carpenter and a reasonable amount of planning and work time.
Check back in a few weeks for a video of this event, which will show Jason in action, as well as a tearful reveal to the future homeowners.
