Somehow I totally missed posting this mini-makeover before and after. D’oh! So although it’s very Christmas-y, better late than never, right?
Natasha was one of our Guest Room Giveaway one-hour mini-makeover winners. Natasha and husband Glen welcomed a baby boy right before they moved into this house in Rollingwood, and considering they had another toddler in the house as well, they hadn’t had time to fully unpack yet. Here’s what their living room looked like when I arrived:
The couple’s built-in bookshelves were perfect for displaying family photos, so we unpacked them and set them out first, hung a piece of art over the fireplace and styled everything with holly from their front yard and some extra Christmas ornaments.
Natasha and Glen prefer a minimal style, so leaving the top and bottom shelves bare keeps the room from looking too cluttered. Another trick to keeping things uncluttered and minimal: keep similar frame finishes together. I separated Natasha’s frames and grouped metallic finishes on one bookcase, wood frames on the other.
Styling this room didn’t take the full hour, so I installed some art in the couple’s bedroom as well. I selected two framed photos from their wedding to hang above the nightstands:
…and grouped other wedding photos on another wall in the room:
Thanks, Natasha, for participating in our Guest Room Giveaway!
