Mod Vintage Bathroom
Moving from New York City to Dripping Springs, Texas might be a huge culture shock for some, but it is a welcome change for this couple with Texas roots. Wanting to give their two young girls an idyllic childhood, Sarah and Scott buy a European-inspired dream house that backs up to a picturesque lake. The trouble is, the house lacks a bathtub upstairs for bathing the kiddos.
Scott and Sarah decide to convert one existing walk-in closet into an en suite bathroom for the girls, leaving them another walk-in closet for clothes storage. Not wanting to subject the kiddos to the craziness and debris of major remodeling projects, the homeowners decide to stay in the city a few months after closing on the house, enlisting Room Fu to select finishes, furnishings and materials, and oversee the renovations.
With Sarah’s interest in wallpaper and her appreciation for Jonathan Adler’s signature style in mind, Room Fu selects a modern wallpaper with a retro graphic pattern for the bathroom, and already the bathroom screams happy! The tub and sink chosen by the homeowners gives the room a fun, vintage vibe, and adding turquoise to the underside of the sink adds more whimsy to the space. Elongated, grooved, Italian tiles are applied to the wall vertically for a modern wainscoting effect. Hex tiles on the floor play to Sarah’s love of Carrera marble.
Boldly striped shower curtains encircle the pedestal tub and look amazing with the wallpaper.
The lighting we select for this bathroom is to-die-for. So chic! So cute!
A Roman shade on the bathroom window picks up the sink’s turquoise color and features a sweet, polka-dotted print.
Hot pink towels and a Kelly green table are just the thing to complement the room’s decor.
