We all know how much I adore Jonathan Adler, my design idol.

Room Fu designers Claire Patrick and Robin Callan pose for a photo with Jonathan Adler at his store in Austin, TX
It doesn’t hurt that he gave me a great plug:
And I would LOVE to fill my entire house with his furniture, lighting and accessories, but sadly, I don’t make enough coin to make that happen.
Until now.
JCPenney is taking a cue from the Target playbook and has launched a line of furniture and home decor products called Happy Chic, designed by The Man himself. Feast your eyes and don’t fear the price tags!
FURNITURE
How exciting is this?? I can’t wait to check it out in person.
Have you bought anything from Jonathan Adler’s Happy Chic line at JCPenney? What do you think of the quality?
**Editor’s Note: It’s been brought to our attention that pricing on Jonathan Adler’s Happy Chic line has dramatically increased since we published this post. I’ve never seen a retailer jack up a price by HUNDREDS of dollars on a piece of furniture that was already on the market. I would love to know why JCP/JA has done this.
You KNOW I love it all. The cheap-y in me was hoping it’d be a LITTLE bit lower prices, but once the sales hit…I’m there. (:
Have you see the new Conran line? It’s pretty awesome too – the furnishings have some great lines! http://www.jcpenney.com/dotcom/for-the-home/brands/view-all-brands/design-by-conran/cat.jump?id=cat1002350030
JCP is re-branding right!
I wondered when this was going live, thanks for posting it! I’ve been coveting the Utopia Elephant Lamp, hopefully one of these happy little owl will sate my need for it! I agree with Claire, I was hoping the price points would be *slightly* lower, but maybe that just means they’re well-made. I really never thought JC Penny could do anything to get my into one of their stores, but I think they finally got me.
That’s so funny you say that about Conran because I already had it cued up and ready for Wed! Great minds think alike 🙂 Also, thanks for tipping me off to Blu Dot, which is sched’d to post Thurs.
” I really never thought JC Penny could do anything to get my into one of their stores, but I think they finally got me.” I KNOW! I was laughing last night while shopping for a client when I saw their lamp collection (pics to come). SO EFFING COOL. Prices were great, rivaling Home Goods. JCP might be one of my go-tos if they keep this up!
Why are prices published here pretty significantly lower than the JCP prices on it’s website?
WOW. You’re right, Shanon. I can’t believe they would change the pricing so dramatically. I don’t remember these being sale prices…in fact, usually when I post sale prices, I note that they are sale prices. I could chalk up one or two discrepancies to human error, but for every piece to have been jacked up nearly a thousand dollars? WTH? Dying to know why…
Shanon and Robin,
I was also taken aback with the increased prices on the Happy Chic collection. However, they started the new home section and pricing when Ron Johnson was CEO, who believed in the everyday low price setup. Since his replacement has come along, they’ve returned to the promotional price model where they jack up the prices in order to allow for a sale or coupon. These items are regularly on sale and coupons (20% off $1000 or more, 40% off $4000 or more etc.) can bring the prices down to what you originally posted. It stinks waiting for a sale or finding a coupon, but not many are paying the higher prices.
We purchased our new home last year and stumbled onto the best sale ever. Jonathan Adler and Conran has flooded my living room & other areas of the house. 70% off everything. It was a steal. The blessings & favor of God, is all I can say. I even found some J.A pieces at Home Goods and I rack up. I don’t give it a second thought if its 2-3 digits as opposed to 3-4 digits for his stylish quality made pieces.
JCPenny’s clothes aren’t too bad either. Don’t fall asleep on JCP.
In my happiest dream I would actually own two Talitha cabinets :-)) OMG that would be amazing. Unfortunately, even at a Target price ownership of these exquisite pieces is beyond the rainbow. 🙁 Rock On! Johnathan Adler. Yes, the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder . Love that cabinet. 💜💫
