I can hear it now, you’re thinking, “She’s pushing FLOR tiles…again?”
Ummm, yes. And all without an endorsement contract. (Note to FLOR: I am open.)
If you’re new to Room Fu / Fu For Thought, FLOR tiles are 19.7″ square carpet tiles you piece together to create custom-sized area rugs for less than your typical off-the-shelf rugs. They’re very pet/kid-friendly. Not only are they easy to clean, but if you do happen to stain something beyond salvaging, you can replace one or two tiles rather than an entire rug. I recommend them to clients and FFT readers All. The. Time.
When I get FLOR catalogs, I tend to have the same thought: “I can see everything I need to see on their Web site,” then head straight for the recycling bin. Well, I stand corrected. There is so much new stuff that I haven’t noticed online yet!
Take their new Sophistikat™ for example. This one tile design can be used to create three different looks: ikat, zigzag, or diagonal stripes, depending on the direction you lay the carpet tiles. Ikat patterns are still hot right now, but when that trend wanes, you can flip the tiles around and achieve a whole new look. No need to worry about dated decor!
More Rockin’™ is pretty fab too, featuring a suzani-style pattern:
The Mag-Neat-O™ is a great feature in a room full of neutrals:
Martha Stewart has a new one called Lattice™:
Although I feel like the faux bois thing has been done to death, I still kinda love it:
I yearn for the day when I can afford to rip out my Builder Beige (and stained) carpet in my living room and do something with these babies in my own space.
*Sigh.*
We just assembled our new FLOR rug that you suggested and it looks (and feels) wonderful. They were so easy to install and move around and they don’t shed at all (at least not the ones we got).
Thanks for the recommendation!! They look great with the new sofa slipcovers!!
