Mark Dalton and Jason Champion square off.

The Habitat for Humanity is kicking off a big soiree this weekend in Manatee County, Florida. Lucky for them, HGTV Design Star finalist Jason Champion lives nearby and has agreed to face off against Chic on the Cheap author Mark Dalton for the Habitat Chic Design Challenge.  Both designers have 24 hours to deck out two 1100 s.f. Habitat homes, using donated merchandise from Ikea and Target, as well as items from the Habitat ReStore itself.

If you are so inclined, you can ogle the efforts of these designers, but be forewarned: if you show up this weekend, they’ll put you to work!

Jason’s going to supply pictures along the way, so check back the next few days for some before & after shots.

DETAILS

Jason’s design:  2622 Second Avenue
Mark’s design:  2602 Second Avenue
(Both homes are located in Palmetto.)

Friday, October 23 from 11am – 4pm

If you’d like to hobnob with the hilarious Jason Champion and benefit a great cause, buy a $50 ticket to the Habitat Chic Opening Night Premiere Party, where you can hang out with both designers, get a tour of the decorated homes, and check out a reality TV-style video about this design challenge.  (Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served at this event, which will run from 7-10pm.) Both homes will also be open November 15th, 20th, and 21st from 1-5 pm for $10/pp tours.  More info on the events here.
