nacho-libre-a

The 2006 movie Nacho Libre inspired a wave of fascination with Mexican luchadors that continues to grow to this day.  I must say I’m a huge fan, myself.  I’ve put them in bathrooms…

I’ve put them on desks…

I’ve put them in living rooms…

Stephanie Nance's Lucha Libre No.1 and Lucha Libre No.2.

…and now I’ve found the perfect book for my little obsession:

Lucha Loco: The Free Wrestlers of Mexico, by Malcolm Venville.

Lucha Loco: The Free Wrestlers of Mexico, by Malcolm Venville.

The photography by Malcolm Venville is really stunning.  I’d like to buy a second copy and tear out a bunch of the pages and create an art installation out of them.  If you’re curious, check out the Lucha Loco website, which features peeks at the photography in the book, as well as interviews with the wrestlers and info about Venville.  Too cool.

This made me wonder…how else might I decorate with luchadors?  Some offerings for those of you who are similarly obsessed:

Where/how can I get these??

Either I'm doing the math wrong, or these are some SPENDY plates.

Luchador magnets by Viva Press, $4 each.

Luchador magnets by Viva Greetings, $4 each.

Luchadores Embroidered Tea Towel by Scooter's Sewing Shenanigans, $7.$

Keep Calm and Lucha On print by Lavita Petite, $15.

Frankly, that’s not enough luchador merch.  So I’m throwing in a non-decor item:

Mexi Mask Undies by Nerdlife Designs, $12.

Mexi Mask Undies by Nerdlife Designs, $12.

Now that I think about it, how cute would these undies look, all framed up and hung in a walk-in closet or powder room?  Or should I say, POW-er room?
