Top 10 Best Home Blogs

Lamps Plus recently ran a contest asking their 68,000+ Facebook fans to vote for their favorite home blogs. The voting period ran for a whole month, but I only found out about it three days before the voting period was up. I figured, what the hey, I’ll post it on Facebook, ask our folks to vote for us and at least get our name out there.

Y’all? WE MADE THE TOP TEN LIST!

I can’t tell you how exciting this is, or how proud I am to be up there with the likes of superstar design bloggers like Young House Love, AphroChic and Apartment Therapy. That is some crazy schwack! I appreciate everyone who voted for Room Fu. You are collectively the best, most awesome people around. Congratulations to the other Top 10 List’ers: The Inspired RoomDIY Showoff, Design Thoughts, Thrifty Decor Chick, Miss Mustard Seed, Pretty Handy Girl, and Coupon Cousins. (There were a few ties, if you’ve got a little OCD going and noticed the list shakes out to more than 10.)

If you’re just joining us after seeing us on the list, you might be wondering what we do around here. What can you expect to read here on a (usually) daily basis, Monday-Friday and occasional weekends? If we see something in the home decor world marked down to some crazy price, we want someone we “know” to have it, so we’ll post it here. Likewise, with furnishings that are really distinctive or special. We tend to be drawn to modern design and supercool color…mostly casual and comfortable interior design. We love beautiful and elegant, but we don’t post as much shi-shi stuff because that’s just not how our clients tend to live.

We’re practicing interior designers, so we post our before and after pics when we get them. You can check out our portfolio onlinepin away, if you’re addicted to Pinterest!

In addition to this blog, I write for Williams-Sonoma’s Designer Marketplace–mostly articles about the business side of design, and interviews with celebrity designers, like:

Antonio Ballatore (The Antonio Treatment)

David Bromstad (Color Splash Miami) Bonus content

Kim Myles (Myles of Style) Bonus content

Matt Locke (Design Star, Season 3) Bonus content

Interviews/articles coming soon:

Jeff Andrews (Designer to celebs like the Kardashians, Ryan Seacrest, Michael C. Hall)

Taniya Nayak (Restaurant Impossible, Designed to Sell)

Sarah Richardson (Design Inc., Sarah 101, Sarah’s House)
