Young House Love: Book Signing & Lighting Line

Sherry and John Petersik of Young House Love DIY home decorating blog and book engage with the audience at a book signing at BookPeople in Austin, TX.

It’s one thing to read someone’s blog and it’s another thing to experience their personalities in person. The other night at BookPeople, Sherry and John Petersik of Young House Love proved themselves to be a highly entertaining couple. Trading banter back and forth about the differences between writing a blog and writing a book, they had everyone in stitches. When they opened up the floor to questions from the audience, what did everyone want to know about?

Sherry’s new bangs.

She’d Instagram’d a photo of herself with freshly cut bangs but it didn’t look like she had any at the event, which caused a conspiracy theory ruckus of epic proportions. Weird.

Here’s Claire and I hovering over them:

Besides their bestselling book, the Youngsters have launched a lighting line at Shades of Light. I’m totally digging all of the playfulness of the line and some extra bling they’re selling for the diffuser end of your drum shade. Check it out:

I’ll be interviewing the two of them soon for Williams-Sonoma Designer Marketplace, so stay tuned for that later on down the road. By their own admission, it’s hard to come up with questions to ask them–they’re such “over-sharers,” they have already spelled out a lot on their blog. But if there’s something you’ve been dying to know (besides whether or not Sherry’s bangs are a complete sham), post a question in the comments here!
