A former B&B conjures up two types of mental images. In the right hands, you’d get a tasteful, yet minimal collection of eclectic antiques and flea market finds. Then there the B&Bs in the vein of antiques-gone-wrong. That’s what these homeowners had to deal with when they bought their house in Groesbeck, Texas.
Before
After
First things first, the new homeowners remove two–yes, two–layers of wallpaper from the kitchen. We have the walls painted a pale, blue-ish gray on the walls, replace the laminate countertops with real wood butcher block, add white subway tile and a bit of pale blue mosaic tile to the backsplash, and install a new farmhouse sink. The results are a breath of fresh air.
Now this updated kitchen feels more spacious and is a much calmer space than it was pre-remodel. What a transformation!
