Making all of the bazillion design decisions that are required when you build a new house…daunting, right? Thankfully for you, walking that crazy tightrope is what we call FUN. This project was especially rewarding, because it was the home of very dear friends. Mimi and Jerome asked for a calm, serene kitchen to be the epicenter of their busy lifestyle. If you want calm and serene, you can’t do better than flooding the space with white! So we started with an abundance of white custom cabinetry.
Charcoal tiles on the floor, installed in an offset pattern, ground the space.
The perimeter of Mimi and Jerome’s kitchen features a beautiful palette of creamy white and gray marble in the backsplash, paired with a coordinating exotic granite countertop.
Contrasting countertops in charcoal stone with a leathered finish create both a textural and color counterpoint for the island and built-in breakfast table.
A framed detail above the gourmet stainless steel cooktop features a modern, three-dimensional stacked stone tile in a combination of matte and glossy charcoal.
Sea urchin mini-pendants in chocolate and silver hang above the island for a bit of unexpected quirk.
We love the way Mimi and Jerome’s dream kitchen turned out. We covet it, even.
