We’re honored that HGTV featured this room in “Living Room Looks We’re Loving.”
In the style of Goldilocks, these homeowners have bounced from house to house, searching for one that feels “just right.” It looks as if they’re headed for another move down the road, if they can’t pull together a look they love for their living room.
Before
After
Feeling fatigued after four moves in eight years, our clients begged Room Fu to give them a living room they will adore enough to stay put in for a while. Specifically, they want a space with the same casual elegance and serenity as some of the interiors featured in the movie Something’s Gotta Give. This type of makeover revolves around a soothing, neutral color palette that incorporates plenty of creamy vanilla and a light, steely blue. Silky curtain panels in a gorgeous shade of gunmetal add a bit of drama and accentuate the vertical height of the room.
Adding pops of purple is an unexpected way keep the room’s design from feeling bland. The mirror over the sofa is the only “splurge” in the room–most everything else comes from discount retailers!
The pillows and rug in the space strike a nice balance between subtle tones and fun, graphic patterns.
Who can resist such pretty pillows?
Now that the rest of the living room is fabulous, the homeowners decide to go ahead and remodel their outdated fireplace. Filling in the existing niche above the firebox allows them to upgrade to a larger TV, and a new, custom built-in provides storage for electronic components.
A glass tile border jazzes up the travertine fireplace surround.
